Arsenal youngster set to be gradually integrated into first-team this season

Arsenal are reportedly set to integrate an 18-year-old into their first-team this season.

Arsenal to integrate youngster into first-team

The player in question, as per football.london, is Mika Biereth:

Mika Biereth will be gradually integrated into the Arsenal first-team this season, with a view to going out on loan next season

Unlike recent young stars to have broken into Arsenal’s first-team such as Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe, Biereth is not a product of Arsenal’s Hale End academy.

Instead, Biereth was actually only signed by the Gunners during the 2021 summer window. The 18-year-old was signed from Fulham’s youth ranks for an unknown fee.

The teenager would score 25 and assist 15 in 37 outings for Fulham’s under-18 side before his switch to north London.

The striker has since featured on 14 occasions for the Gunners’ under-23 outfit. In said games, Biereth has scored five and assisted four, with his latest strike coming on Monday evening in a 3-2 win over Blackburn’s under-23s.

Since moving to Arsenal, Biereth has also been called up for Denmark’s under-19 team and would make his debut for them on October 6th, 2021. The hitman has now made five appearances for the Danes, in which he has scored two goals.

Arsenal’s surplus of strikers

Whilst Biereth progressing well at Arsenal is good news, the Gunners do seem to have something of a surplus of young, promising strikers.

Eddie Nketiah and Folarin Balogun are already competing for a spot as Arsenal’s no.1 striker under Arteta, meaning it is seems unlikely there will be any room for Biereth to garner first-team experience at the moment – especially as Arsenal have no European football this term.

But with Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette potentially leaving for free in the summer when their contracts expire, could Arteta look to Biereth to provide some cover?
