What Bruno Fernandes has said about Manchester United’s caretaker boss Michael Carrick

Michael Carrick set to take charge of Manchester United

Manchester United would sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Sunday following an embarrassing 4-1 defeat at the hands of Watford on Saturday.

Solskjaer leaves the Red Devils languishing in mid-table in the Premier League, with their place in the Champions League knockout rounds also not secure yet.

For the time being, Manchester United have put Michael Carrick, previously a coach under Ole, in charge of the squad till an interim boss is named:

Michael Carrick will now take charge of the team for forthcoming games, while the club looks to appoint an interim manager to the end of the season.

What Bruno Fernandes has said about Carrick

Carrick’s first game in charge comes on Tuesday evening vs Villarreal.

Should United lose that tie and Atalanta beat Young Boys, the Manchester outfit would slip down to third in the league.

So, a win is probably a must for the former midfielder’s first game in charge.

Ahead of that game, it has been revealed what Bruno Fernandes has said about Carrick.

And the Portuguese has been pretty complimentary of his new boss, stating that he is learning a lot from him:

“I was watching in training and Carrick was playing because we had players missing and he didn’t miss a pass.

“It’s unbelievable how fresh and sharp he is doing the exercises with us, and I was talking with Fred and I was going to say to him, ‘Hey, watch him playing and do the same!’ but I thought it was unfair and so I didn’t say it!

“But it was amazing — if someone from outside came to watch training, nobody would say this guy isn’t playing in the team.

“He’s a player who has that quality of passes and also when we need to do some finishing or passing exercises, he’s always there helping us with the balls.

“I’m learning a lot from him and he’s one of the people I like to listen to, because he was a big player, he won a lot of trophies for the club and for me you have to learn from these players.”
