Chelsea injury latest ahead of Juventus: Key forward a doubt, Lukaku update & Kovacic out
Chelsea vs Juventus
Chelsea are set to get their Champions League campaign back underway on Tuesday evening.
The Blues will face off with Juventus at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday the 23rd of November at 8:00 pm UK time.
Chelsea head into the game having notched three wins from four in the Champions League this term.
That loss would come against Juventus in Turin, and means that Thomas Tuchel’s side will head into the game only 2nd in their group.
However, they are just three points off Juventus with a two-worse goal difference. So, a win at the Bridge is likely to see Chelsea gain top spot in Group H heading into the final week of group stage action in December.
Juventus, though, despite struggling in the Serie A this term, have proven to be a tough nut to crack in Europe – scoring nine and conceding two en route to picking up 12 points from a possible 12.
Juventus also have the easier final tie, with the Italian outfit’s last group game against a Malmo side who have not scored in four games whilst conceding 12 goals.
Thomas Tuchel on Chelsea team news
Ahead of the game, Thomas Tuchel held his pre-Juventus press conference on Monday afternoon.
The German would discuss a number of topics in his press conference, including team news.
Both Mateo Kovacic and Romelu Lukaku missed Chelsea’s win over Leicester at the weekend.
And, during his pre-match presser on Monday, Tuchel had this to say on Lukaku:
“Not sure yet, yesterday he was on team training and seemed okay. Let’s see about the reaction. Maybe we have the chance to have in the squad for the last minutes and that’s the absolute maximum.”
Elsewhere Mateo Kovacic remains out whilst Kai Havertz is a doubt with a hamstring issue:
Tuchel says he is not sure if Lukaku will play for #CFC against Juventus. Has been training ok, will decide later but says best hope is getting some minutes off the bench. Havertz is a doubt with a hamstring injury picked up at Leicester.

With Romelu Lukaku still seemingly not fully fit and Timo Werner only recently returning from injury, the Havertz injury news is a big blow for the Blues, who now appear to have no fully-fit centre-forward options.
