Jurgen Klopp makes ‘direct request’ to Liverpool board for Amine Gouiri

A report from Spain has claimed that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has made a direct request to the club’s board for the signing of Amine Gouiri.

Who is Amine Gouiri?

Amine Gouiri would join Ligue 1 side OGC Nice from Lyon in July of 2020.

The French outfit are understood to have paid around £6.3m to bring the forward in.

And, after struggling to gain a foothold in Lyon’s senior side, the 21-year-old has now cemented himself as a key figure for Nice.

All told, Gouiri has featured on 45 occasions for Nice, during which he has scored an impressive 20 goals and provided nine assists.

Gouiri has also had a particularly impressive start to the 2021/22 campaign. So far, he has found the net four times and provided one assist in just four Ligue 1 clashes.

Klopp wants Gouiri

Now, as mentioned above, Gouiri’s fine form appears to be attracting the interest of a Premier League powerhouse.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Jurgen Klopp has made a direct request to the Liverpool board for the signing of Gouiri:

The German coach has made a direct request to the Liverpool board: The signing of a striker from Ligue 1.

It is added that Klopp is said to be a great admirer of the Frenchman and would be delighted to have him on his team, replacing a 30-year-old Roberto Firmino.

No potential fee is mentioned in the report, but transfermarket do value Gouiri at €30m.

And, whilst Diogo Jota has done a solid job of covering for Firmino of late, the Portuguese is a natural left-winger, whilst Gouiri is also capable of lining out from the left. As a result, it probably would not be that hard for Klopp to fit both players into his front-three when needed.
