Roberto Firmino update surfaces ahead of Liverpool’s meeting with Leeds

An update on the wellbeing of Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino has been forthcoming on Saturday evening, ahead of the club’s meeting with Leeds.

Elland Road clash

Jurgen Klopp’s men are of course set to return to action on Sunday.

Ahead of a highly-anticipated return to European endeavours versus AC Milan in midweek, the Reds will first make the trip to Yorkshire, for a Premier League showdown with Leeds United.

Liverpool will no doubt head into proceedings with confidence high in the club’s camp, on the back of a solid opening to the new campaign.

Successive victories over Norwich City and Burnley were followed by a 1-1 stalemate with European champions Chelsea last time out, which the Merseysiders, in truth, probably should have come away from victorious.

Such form, in turn, means that a returning to winning ways tomorrow evening will see Klopp and co. join Chelsea and Manchester United on ten points atop the English top-flight table.

Firmino latest

And, as outlined above, ahead of the Elland Road showpiece, on Saturday, a significant personnel update has been forthcoming in the Liverpool camp.

The player involved? Roberto Firmino.

Hitman Firmino has been sidelined for the last couple of weeks, after picking up a hamstring injury versus Chelsea last time out.

As per the reliable James Pearce of The Athletic, though, the Brazilian has now returned to light training:

The Athletic understands that the Brazil international has started jogging outside and doing some ball work with the club’s rehab staff at Kirkby’s AXA Training Centre.

Unfortunately for the club’s supporters, Firmino will not be available to face Leeds, and also looks highly unlikely to feature versus Milan on Wednesday.

A comeback in Liverpool’s clash with Crystal Palace at Anfield next weekend, though, cannot be ruled out:
