Chelsea & Tottenham Hotspur keeping tabs on Jurrien Timber
Both Chelsea and Tottenham are keeping close tabs on Ajax youngster Jurrien Timber, according to reports.
Who is Jurrien Timber?
Timber has spent the last seven years plying his trade in Amsterdam with Ajax.
The 20-year-old would join the Dutch powerhouse’s youth ranks back in 2014, departing fellow Eredivisie side, Feyenoord.
Timber would enjoy several successful years with Ajax’s youth sides and is a Dutch under-17 champion.
However, despite still only being 20, Timber is becoming a key cog in Ajax’s senior side.
The central defender really burst into the first-team during the 2020/21 campaign, when he would feature 20 times in the league and five times in the Europa League for Ajax.
He has also managed to maintain his starting berth for the current season, playing every minute of Ajax’s three opening league outings of the campaign to date.
As well as becoming a key figure in Ajax’s backline, Timber has also earned six senior Netherlands caps since his debut earlier this year.
Premier League due Chelsea & Tottenham eye Timber
Now, as mentioned above, it appears as though Timber’s fine form is attracting interest from elsewhere in Europe.
As reported by 90min:
Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are both keeping very close tabs on Ajax defensive starlet Jurrien Timber.
Both London-based outfits are said to have been following the centre-back for nearly two years and have had glowing scouting reports about him, especially during 2021.
It is added that both Chelsea and Spurs see him as being similar to former French defender, William Gallas.
No potential transfer fee is mentioned in the report.
The defender is currently contracted to Ajax until 2024, signing his last contract extension in September of 2020.
